Fire Repair Services
It is an unfortunate fact that a large number of properties are
damaged by fire. Fire damage to property often causes structural damage in the worse cases and as a result need to be assessed by a Chartered Surveyor prior to specialised remedial work being undertaken. However, even in small fires considerable damage can be caused by smoke spreading through the building along with the additional water damage caused during extinguishing the fire.
RESPONSE UK has worked with Insurance Companies and Loss Adjusters repairing Fire Damage to both Commercial and Domestic properties for over 20 years. Our expert knowledge ensures we are well placed to help get you back in your home or have your business trading again in the shortest time period.
Structural Assessment & Repairs
Fire damage to buildings often causes Structural Damage which needs to be identified and repaired to make the property safe to work in and ultimately be returned to its original condition. RESPONSE UK can liaise with Surveyors to ascertain the extent and order of works to be undertaken.
Drying Out
It seems strange to think a property would need drying out after the substantial heat it has endured during a fire. However during the process of extinguishing a fire large volumes of water are used by fire crews to initially subdue any flames and thereafter to reduce the retained heat in order to avoid re-ignition of the fire.
After such a process dampness still exists in properties where a fire has occurred, this dampness can leave electrical wiring dangerous, promotes fungal growth, rot and unwanted odours, therefore the property needs to be completely dried before redial work begins to ensure a safe environment and to avoid the re-occurrence of problems once the property has been make good.
Leaving a building to dry naturally can take up to several weeks, with RESPONSE UK‘s specialist bespoke equipment this time scale can be reduced to a number of days depending on the size of building in question.
Sanitisation & De-Odourising
During a fire the manner in which materials burn results in a variety of residues being left over. The nature of these residues depends upon many factors and characteristics of the fire itself including the temperature the fire reaches, the amount of oxygen present during combustion and not least the materials themselves. RESPONSE UK understand the subtleties of fire residues and the need for them to be cleaned and removed in a appropriate fashion.
After a fire there are many sources of unwanted odours which will be left. Smoke and soot will have penetrated many areas undamaged by the fire itself and there is also the resulting smells caused by the large volumes of water used in tackling the fire causing dampness, fungal growth and rot. These odours are not always the easiest to remove with traditional cleaning methods however. RESPONSE UK has the knowledge and equipment to undertake sanitisation and de-odourising requirements caused by fire damage.
RESPONSE UK are IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) and PASMA (Prefabricated Access Suppliers’ & Manufactures’ Association) accredited allowing us to undertake ‘High Level’ and ‘Difficult To Reach’ sanitisation and de-ordourising work in safe and controlled manner.
